Description
The MRI Lumbar Spine (MRI) test is an entirely safe and painless imaging procedure that combines strong magnetic fields and radio waves to generate detailed images of the lower back, including the bones, intervertebral disks, spinal cord, and surrounding structures. Why is this test booked? It can assess the disks to see if they’re bulging, ruptured, or pressing on the spinal cord or nerves. The MRI also can help doctors: Evaluate symptoms such as lower back pain, leg pain, numbness, tingling or weakness. Look into problems with bladder and bowel control. If contrast dye is used for your procedure, you may feel some effects when the dye is injected into the IV line. These effects include a flushing sensation or a feeling of coldness, a salty or metallic taste in the mouth, a brief headache, itching, or nausea and/or vomiting.
