Joint X-Ray

Description

This test is an x-ray of a knee, shoulder, hip, wrist, ankle, or other joint. The test is done in a hospital radiology department or in the health care providers office. An arthrogram is used to check a joint to find out what is causing your symptoms or problem with your joint. An arthrogram may be more useful than a regular X-ray because it shows the surface of soft tissues lining the joint as well as the joint bones. Conventional radiography is the most commonly used imaging technique to evaluate the joints of the musculoskeletal system. This technique should always be the first imaging study performed in a patient suspected of having joint problems.
